Account Support
Remove an account from Beacon Mail
Beacon Mail does not create a separate Beacon account. Removing a mailbox is a local action on your device; it is not a request to Potato Studios and it does not delete your provider account.
There is no Beacon account to delete
Your configured Gmail, iCloud Mail, or other mailbox account belongs to that provider. Potato Studios has no Beacon account database, cannot access your mailbox, and cannot remove a configured account from your device for you.
How to remove a mailbox
- Open Beacon Mail, open Settings, and choose Accounts.
- Select the mailbox you want to remove and choose Remove Account.
- Review the local-data and Offline-folder warning, then confirm the removal.
The wording or placement may vary slightly by platform while the app is in development.
Automatic-wipe controls destroy the encryption keys for the protected local container, making its encrypted data permanently unreadable. This cryptographic wipe is separate from deleting the mailbox or account held by your provider.
What Beacon Mail removes
- The saved local credential or OAuth tokens for that mailbox
- The account's disposable local message cache and protected local records
- Local account configuration that is no longer needed by the app
Removal is designed to clear the mailbox from Beacon Mail on that device. Platform backup systems may retain an encrypted copy of limited non-secret settings according to the Privacy Policy, but Beacon's supported backup allowlists exclude credentials and mail.
What it does not remove
- Messages, folders, labels, contacts, or calendars held by your mail provider
- Your Gmail, Apple Account, or other provider account
- Mail already delivered to another person or stored on another device
- Support messages you previously chose to send to Potato Studios
To delete provider-held mail or close the provider account, use the controls and support process offered by Gmail, Apple, or your other provider.
Before you remove an account
Protect Offline-only mail
An Offline folder can contain the only copy of its messages. Beacon Mail is designed to refuse account removal while retained Offline records remain. Export that mail to a user-selected location or restore it to the provider before removing the account.
Do not uninstall, reset, or clear the app's data while it holds unexported Offline-only mail. Potato Studios has no server copy and cannot recover it.
If you cannot open the app
Potato Studios cannot remotely erase local Beacon Mail data. Use your device's app-management controls only after you understand that clearing data or uninstalling may permanently destroy local-only information.
If the account still exists at your provider, change or revoke its app-specific password, OAuth access, or authorized-app access through the provider's security settings. That prevents the removed installation from authenticating but does not erase local Offline mail.
Delete support communications
If you previously contacted Potato Studios and want us to delete personal information contained in that support conversation, use the support address below. We may need to verify the request and may retain limited records where required by law or reasonably necessary for security or dispute resolution.
Do not send your mailbox password, app-specific password, authentication code, private key, or message content with the request.
